Most of the television sets and your devices like the radio and your computer rely on radio frequency for it to gather signal and for it to function. This is what most cable companies use. When the signal is weak, you can expect that you cannot have good reception when you are watching the television. There are times when the issue is not in weak signals, it is because it is not distributed properly.

There are devices that you can use to improve the strength of the frequency. You can make use of a power divider. But if you are aiming to distribute to more devices, you will benefit more from directional couplers. Most of the time, it is hard to distribute frequency among different devices especially if you are using one source. Through the couplers, this can easily be accomplished.

The capacity and what they can do can be different as well. Unlike the coupler that has four paths, the divider only has two. But when it comes to quality of resolution, you can count on dividers.

Couplers have various usage aside from ensuring that the right amount of frequency is being distributed. It is also used for measuring and monitoring. To make sure that the reception is good, you have to also see to it that everything is properly measured. You can easily determine the issue if there are any and you can use the new found information to have it fixed.

Couplers have been innovated and improved. There are now hybrid ones that have more capacities and more improved features. The problem with couplers before is the fact that they cannot evenly distribute the signal. And because of this, there are other devices who do not have the best reception. But when you make use hybrids, the even distribution problem will be solved.

Aside from splitting the signal so that it can be used further, you can also use it to combine power. This is when you want to improve the signal strength. Through combining the power, you can effectively increase the resolution of the display. This is usually what the coupler is being used as well. The collective power will make frequencies collected in one port.

Too much frequency and power would be bad as well. The supply should just be right. It would not only mess up the reception. It will increase the reflection and this is the reason why you can see more images on the screen. To prevent this, some of the signals have to be isolated in one of the paths. Since dividers only have to paths, they are not suitable for this job.
