Selection Of Equipment Needed For Golf Course Irrigation

By George Wood

There are different aspects of nature that make people marvel at creation. As great as parks and other regions look, all this can disappear within months. The destruction caused by human beings may cause some of these regions to lose their appeal. Certain maintenance practices can be used to improve the outlook of different regions. Golf course irrigation is important in maintaining the lush green lawns.

Selecting the right kind of grass to choose can be quite a task. Focusing on the characteristics one thinks will work great for a region will help in selection. The main trait the plants selected should have is the ability to handle the commotion caused by people walking all over it. It should be noted that different regions hold particular species.

Selection on the right types to use depends on the weather conditions of the current region. There is a kind that is suitable for warm weather and another for wet weather. The variety resistant to heat will not be scorched and turn color in situations where there is no shade provided. The downside to a specific weather plant is that it may not survive in a different kind of element.

The grass selected can begin to lose its glossy nature. This happens in a number of golf courses because of the busy nature of the place. There should be a rest period for the field. The grass is given time to naturally revive itself. This process can also be hastened by use of chemicals. If this period is not provide it will be all downhill from here.

The method one chooses for irrigation may depend on the water source being used. If the source is quite far the method opted for should be able to get water from this region efficiently. Some soils have a poor water holding capacity. They tend to lose a lot of water when water. Watering on alternate days, may be a good practice for such an area.

Windy regions tend to lose a lot of water to the atmosphere. Strategic watering of the place is ideal. This could be early mornings or evenings when the air is still. Different systems may be selected depending on what an individual can afford. Equipment that is too expensive will be left for a later time.

Machines with a single head can properly distribute water to areas closer to the head. This means that further regions will be left out. Excess water may be collected in the nearer regions. There will be a lot of run off. Manual watering can be used to supplement the problem areas. However, if the area to be covered is extensive this may end up being time consuming.

There are sprinklers that are designed to reach a larger region. They can be placed in a number of regions and can be more efficient if a number of nozzles are attached to them. In this kind, no supplement will be necessary. The decision to water any field and the method to be used can also be decided by the moisture needs of the particular area.
