Los Angeles Trucking Companies Lease Purchase Programs

By Ruth Ross

Trucking Company Lease Purchase Programs appear to offer a tremendous benefit to truck drivers. New truck drivers, in particular, are targeted. The offer of a driver being able to own their truck oftentimes with zero down payment and no credit check can be extremely tempting to many drivers. Undoubtedly, some drivers benefit from these programs. However, many more have been ruined both financially and professionally. A typical lease purchase agreement through Los Angeles trucking companies requires you to work solely for them.

No one company can make 100% of their drivers happy. This is the case in any business. It is just human nature. This is why there will be ten drivers who will speak positive of a trucking company, and then twelve other drivers will speak negative about the same company. Also, many times a recruiter or dispatcher can log in on the forum and post only good things about the company.

Another consideration is the quality of the truck. If you are purchasing a brand new truck the truck should be in good mechanical condition and under warranty. If you are buying a used truck that may not be the case. You could find yourself having to pay thousands of dollars for repairs before you can even drive the truck.

Next, just like cars, 18-wheelers and semi-trailers must also have regular inspections. If a truck company fails to inspect trucks or ignores obvious problems, it can result in breakdowns like blowouts, loss of steering, and brake malfunction. Due to the size and speed of these vehicles, an out-of-control truck almost always results in catastrophe.

Furthermore, your one question, "Is this a good company to work for" is still left unanswered. Have you ever done a search for "best truck companies?" You will find many pages showing a list of truck companies, but that is all it is... A list. You still have no idea which company is a "good" one or which company is a "bad" one. It can be very frustrating, to say the least.

Your truck may be located in a different state. Typically, the truck company will give you a bus ticket to enable you to get to the location of the truck. You might be in for a surprise to get to the location and discover that the truck is not even driveable. Again, you will be informed that the truck is yours and any repairs needed are your responsibility. You can argue all you want, but it will be to no avail. Consequently, if you don't have available funds for repairs, you are certainly getting off to a bad start.

This is the typical situation many drivers find themselves in. They soon discover that the lease-purchase agreement has put them in worst financial shape than they were initially in. I suggest that if you want to do a lease purchase program, you do so through a bank or finance company.

You want a "list" of only the names of truck companies that are considered to be the best of the best, as well as "why" they are considered the better ones. If you cannot find the "why"... Then what is the purpose of the list?
