Why Are Workers Signing Up With The Kind Of Skilled Temp Agency Florida Businesses Use

By Kenneth Kennedy

There was a time when the only people who worked temporary jobs were in between full time jobs. Employers did not expect much from these workers and rarely hired them on a permanent basis. A lot has changed, and today a large segment of the workforce is making temporary employment their first choice. These are often college graduates and other highly trained individuals. They sign up with a skilled temp agency Florida businesses trust to deliver quality employees.

One reason is because a lot of temporary jobs pay very well. Employers who need skilled workers are willing to pay for them. Sometimes they will pay more than what they would offer a permanent employee for the same work. They will do this because they are not paying for any benefits for the temps. There is no sick or vacation day pay, profit sharing, or insurance coverage required for these workers.

Graduates today are finding it hard to get good jobs in their field right out of college and technical school. Many of them can't put down much relevant experience on their resumes. What they do have is the educational background a lot of employers are looking for.

One way to gain the experience is to take on temporary jobs. Some actually find positions that give them valuable experience they can eventually take to a full time job. Some even end up being hired permanently by the employer who originally contracted for short term help.

Thirty years ago workers could expect to work at one or two jobs during their entire working career. Many retired from the company that hired them right out of college. Those times are gone. Today workers will have numerous jobs before they can retire. Young workers expect to stay with a company for a short while and then move on. This is not instability on their part. It is the reality of the times. Working temporary jobs gives them a measure of independence.

There are some individuals who want flexibility and will take temporary assignments because it gives them that. They might have children at home, be going to school, or just prefer to freelance. Temporary employment for a lot of these people is supplemental income rather than primary income. They have the independence to take jobs as it fits their schedule. This arrangement is more acceptable to them than arranging their lives around a work schedule.

There are workers who take short term jobs in the hopes that it will lead to permanent employment. Employers will hire temporary employees while they are looking for someone to fill a position full time. The employer is sometimes so impressed with the skill sets of the temporary employee the offer of a full time job is made.

If nothing else, inexperienced graduates can get some good working experience. They might add some skills to their resumes that will get them permanent jobs. If there was ever a stigma attached to temporary work, it is gone.
