The Need For Police Car Partition

By Leticia Jensen

When police car partition is mentioned deferment people may have different interpretation but its actual meaning is the subdivision of the police car into various sections. The vehicles usually have four sections while others have even more. There are various reasoned that called for this decision and its implementation has been a success. It has been adopted by various departments in almost all parts of the world. There is also the possibility that in the future it will be almost one hundred percent.

One of the sections that most of their cars have is the trunk which other public and privately owned vehicles also have. There is a difference though when it comes to the use. In most cases the trunk is like a safe whereby the investigation evidence is kept in all the operations. Given that they always carry out investigations, their cars need trunks to facilitate this as well as to ensure that the evidence is not tampered with.

In most cases the division of the vehicle into various sections is dependent on their nature and functions. They vary because some need extra sections for functions not performed by their counterparts. The purchase of these vehicles is done by one functional area which is conversant with them thus making it easy to maintain uniformity of the compartments.

There is economic benefit when it comes to this because partitions will result to use of one vehicle instead of many thus saving on both fuel cost as well as manpower in terms of drivers. On the other hand it also increases the level of security and safety of the officers.

One very important reason for partitions is because of the amount of cargo that these vehicles always carry. There are various tools that the officers need for their smooth operation and need to be kept in a different section from the passengers. The guns and bullets are examples of these types of equipment. They are kept in a tool box in the cargo cabinet for easy access.

The cargo section is not the only section for keeping items. There is also the trunk whose major use is to keep items which are obtained during an investigation. These items need maximum security and thus they cannot be mixed with other items. The reason for this is to avoid tampering with evidence or leads to a crime. This therefore is another reason why there are sections in the cars.

The only challenge is that some units will tend to have few vehicles because they do not see the benefit of acquiring more. This is a disadvantage because in case of crisis there will be shortage of transport facilities and they will be forced to outsource those that have the normal sections and the costs will be high as well.

The units should always go for the vehicles with the number of sections suitable for them. It is clear that this has been taken seriously and has resulted to lots of benefits. We also know the reasons why this is a requirement mostly for the police and not any other functional body.
