These people are expected to oversee certain duties and perform certain tasks to ensure smooth running of operations in that particular place. For every project, there must be deadlines to be met. Time is of paramount essence and people have to work within a given schedule. These representatives are supposed to schedule project activities in steps that will enable them complete expected tasks in good time. They will tell which activities to be done at what time and in which order.

They are supposed to determine the amount of labor that will be required. By looking at the amount of work that needs to be covered and the time allocated to the duties, they will be able to estimate the exact numbers of laborers, machines and utilities that will be put in.

On site, they are the overall supervisors. The direct workers and make major decisions whenever their employers are not present. For any task to be done accordingly, there has to be a responsible person who will lead those working. One who will notice mistakes and correct them, someone who will notice a lag behind and ask them to speed up. This person is always the site manager.

While on site, they have to manage finances. They will record the amount of money spent on each activity and give this report back to the relevant personnel. The progress of work has to be monitored. Each task has to get carried out within the proposed time and budget. In case the need for any additions arises, they are expected to negotiate for this in due time.

They usually act as a link between the manual workers and the administrative staff, clients and developers. They will study, interpret and explain contract terms and plans to the workers so that they know exactly what is expected of them. The firm will also express the views and interest of these workers to the bosses. They are the ones to ensure the well being of these people. Good coordination has to exist so that tasks are done effectively.

To conclude, these are very important people on any building project. They play major roles that affect the success of the venture. They therefore need to know their duties well before starting the job for efficiency and quality results.
