Discover The Importance Of Grounding In Oilfield Industries

By Edward Kennedy

Grounding must be done in many workplaces to ensure that no worker will be electrocuted. By grounding the electrical systems, it will allow the flow of electricity directly on the earth. Fire and explosions pose a high risk of destroying a structure if electricity is not conducted properly. When it comes with Oilfield grounding, it is important to follow the standards and rules set by various governing bodies for a safe workplace.

Oil and gas sectors rely on an efficient and effective form of transportation, processing and handling or hazardous and flammable chemical products. These types of operations usually generate high levels of electric currents. The best thing to counter or avoids this kind of situation is to install static control preventive measures and proper groundings. With proper defensive measure, it will prevent from any kind of catastrophic events, explosions or ignitions.

Grounding is the best way to prevent the employees from getting grounded on the workplace. It will prevent workers from picking up static electricity which is generated from the environment and in return damage electrical components. These employees will have to use or wear straps to prevent the transfer of static electricity into their bodies.

If electricity is not contained into the earth, then it will be installed or constructed on the post outside. It will pose a problem for many people compared to installing them on the ground. This will ensure that electricity will not become a problem on the employees and it will safely transfer its current into the earth directly.

Oilfields have relied their expertise in transporting, processing and taking care of dangerous products and chemicals. These types of operations are capable of generating levels of static electricity. The best defense against catastrophic explosions and ignitions is a well built grounding system and static measures and safety.

There is a standard procedure that companies will have to adhere. This include proper ground on the electrical systems which in case will make the equipment and other devices function properly. If not being followed properly, companies will face problems against governing bodies and may result in termination.

Adding more electrical systems, machines or appliances in a structure will be very dangerous. There is a high level of threat because of electromagnetic interference which may cause problems to the operation and the equipment performance. With all components being added, it will contribute and may become a danger due to the increase in electromagnetic environment.

An increased in using electrical and other electronic devices will introduce to further risk and electromagnetic interference issues to operations and the machines performances. When new systems and applications are being added, it will contribute and may become susceptible to electromagnetic environment. Managing the static hazards is essential to preventing explosions.

Safety is one of the major concerns for many industries. Every safety measure must be conducted and implemented by companies to ensure that their workers will be working their jobs and tasks safely. Electricity must never be underestimated and should be dealt with accordingly to prevent any accidents.
