The Advantages Of Using Epoxy For Floor And Wall Coating

By Shirley Lewis

Coatings are types of covering that are often applied into object surfaces. These are also referred as a substrate. Two of the main purposes in the application of coatings are the decorative and the functional types but there are times when both of these are utilized. Product labels of drinking bottles are common examples of these. In bottles, one side is coated with the functional type and the other side is coated with decorative type.

One thing that is needed to be considered most importantly in the process is it must be applied along with controlled thickness. There are a lot of processes that may be used in achieving the control and it range from using a simple brush for wall painting to expensive machinery used mostly in electronic industries. Epoxy coatings are the most widely used type especially in Ohio floor and wall coating. The following are the advantages when using this type.

An epoxy and other polymers are resin based, thus, it helps in the protection of concrete walls and concrete floors when these are properly installed and engineered. Aside from an epoxy, other resinous types of systems are used as well by most walkways, manufacturing environments, commercial offices, and concourses. A lot of facilities already are experiencing the good benefits of this.

In companies which are involving the ingestible manufacturing such as pharmaceutical and food plants, bacterial growth is being inhibited. All the needed requirements for the sanitation are also complied by these. Commercial and industrial buildings such as laboratories and warehouses are one of those facilities that obtained the benefits.

First benefit is its chemical resiliency. The floors and the walls which are applied with the epoxy coating may have the ability in surviving if exposed into strong amounts of pH, chemicals, and solvents. It means that for those industries that are having these substances in regular use, this is so much useful to them. Solid polymers may be one result when having strong surfaces and these also prevent physical breakdown and also chemical breakdown.

Second is safety. This contains skid resistance that can be customized in order to prevent falls and slips. Resinous type of flooring also does not contain chemicals that promote mold growth since it has an antimicrobial additive called floroseptic for inhibiting the spreading of pathogens, thus, it helps in upholding the safety of both the structure and the employees.

Third is cost effectiveness. Concrete floors which are coated with epoxy and other types of resinous finishes lasts longer and will resist to substantial wear. Through this, money for the facilities can be saved and will allow the managers in devoting the resources into other business aspects. Fourth is time saving. These coatings are installed quickly.

Fifth is cleaning it easily and being cheap. After the coat has been applied, it can no longer become porous. It means that those dirt and as well the chemicals remain on floor surfaces and cleaned easily. For these types of finishes, waxing is not needed anymore.

Sixth, it is visually appealing. The coatings are available in many variations of colors, customized logos, and patterns that surely would fit to any types of style. Seventh, its brightness. The industries mostly prefer those coatings having a glossy appearance to enhance the lighting. Light colored floors can brighten an occupants mood and also the space.
