Essential Aspects In A Suspense Thriller Novel

By Pamela Young

Reading novels is a common practice with many people. There are a lot of genres that one can choose from. All the same, preferring a suspense thriller genre is equally important owing to its heightened suspense feeling which most reader loves. Even so, one should be very keen on his or her selection to ensure that the respective choice gives a remarkable reading experience. Below are factors to consider in a suspense thriller novel.

Beware of the complex personality of the main character. A thriller novel main character is expected to have a complex personality. This means that he or she should have a hidden and an outspoken characteristic. They can either be good or bad based on the plot. The hidden personality is expected to be revealed in a particular situation which the reader did not completely expect as a way to create a plot twist.

Determine the conflict in the story. Conflict is the main action of a tome. It can involve two characters arguing or fighting over a common interest. A novelist should be careful not to introduce the confrontation without having the readers acknowledge the main villain and the good guy in a story. Both of them should be fighting over the same thing. The villain should obviously have a bad course in mind whereas the good guy is expected to have good intentions.

Take note of a twist in entire story. A twist is meant to create suspense in a story. It can be done either by introducing an unexpected character or by changing the course of the story against the reader expectations. Including a lot of twists in a novel might kill the book lovers interest in reading since it might interrupt the plot of the story. Twists should at least appear at the end of most chapters in the book.

Consider a scene that stirs the reader emotions. Introducing an emotional scene is very important to connect the book character feelings and the reader as well. This can be introduced as a scene that is creating a dangerous scene that create tension or fear into the character. The scene should relate to possible real-life situations that might happen to the book lover.

Evaluate the moral lesson of the story. Every story needs to have a moral lesson. This technique might be taken to be outdated, but some readers would prefer having it in play. Typically, every thriller has its moral lesson, but writers have preferred to leave out open for the book lovers to figure it out for themselves. Scenes that bring out justice, justice denial or helping out a society learn something new are just a few moral lessons a story writer can use.

Select a suitable sub-genre. You have a wide range of thriller categories to choose from. One can either decide on an action, conspiracy, forensic and many more. It is important if you read all of them to determine which fascinates you most.

Determine the suitability of the book by checking its review. Every book has a series of reviews given about it. Therefore, look for different sources of information that you can check about. The internet is a reliable source since you can read about this from different novel blogs, sale website and an e-book copy of the respective novel.
