The Basics Of Air Ambulance Medicare Coverage Nevada

By Douglas Hamilton

Depression is a very real issue for seniors and other individuals all over the world. However, in many seniors, the disease has gone undetected, because even with Medicare, preventative measures were not covered for mental health needs. Seniors with depression, especially white, older males, have a much higher chance of being diagnosed because patients typically present physical, tangible complaints rather than symptoms of their mood. However, a comprehensive Medicare Coverage Nevada can be quite beneficial in such instances.

In most cases, medical flight teams are equipped with aeromedical products which facilitate the provision of medical treatment to critically injured or seriously ill patients. More commonly used equipment includes: electrical inverters, oxygen systems, compressed air supplies and vacuum pumps, monitoring units, stretchers and CPR equipment. As much as the usage of air ambulances may be the most efficient during emergencies, there are certain drawbacks to using this type of patient transport.

Plan A also pays for procedures such as physical therapy, occupational and speech therapy. Care at skilled nursing homes and medically necessary equipment such as wheelchairs and walkers are also covered under this plan. Medicare coverage under part A is usually available without co-pay.

Plan B: This plan covers for expenses incurred for outpatient services that include charges for medical visits; hospital visits on an outpatient basis, and other services that are approved as medically necessary. Requirements that are covered under this plan include various lab tests, home health visits, dialysis, outpatient procedures, vaccinations, ambulance service, chemotherapy, wheelchairs, walkers, etc. Even though enrollment in Part B is automatic, it is not free. You will need to pay a monthly premium as well as annual deductible to avail the benefits.

It is of much importance here to note that Medi-care caters to emergency medical transportation only under certain circumstances: if the patient's location is not easily accessible by land transportation, if the patient is in an intensive care situation and the use of other means of transportation would endanger his/her life, and finally if speediness of the means of transportation is a significant factor in the person's welfare. In each of the scenarios described here, air would be the most appropriate medium to use to avoid congestions that would have been experienced if ground transportation were used.

Medigap coverage can only get better with your help. If you have questions about Medicare or Medicare supplement insurance coverage for mental health issues, you should be able to speak with a Medigap provider or other professional in the field who can lay out exactly what the coverage is and what the costs are.

The doctor may give the patient a statement that recommends ambulance transportation, even though the situation is not an emergency. The ambulance company may opt to give the patient something called an Advance Beneficiary Notice (ABN) if they believe Medicare might refuse to pay for non-emergency ambulance services. The ABN gives the patient an option of choosing whether they are willing to receive the services and if so, asks them to state their responsibility to pay for the services.

Not everyone (seniors or otherwise) has the same health-care needs or is in the same economic situation. However, everyone has the right to get all of the information on all of the options out there. As talks about the future of Medicare heat up, don't lose sight of the present state of Medigap. Does it offer you all of the treatment you need? What options could they provide? Does the coverage make financial sense for my specific situation?
